Government of Northwest Territories Becomes Part of Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot

Good day ladies and gentlemen, this is IRC news, and I am Joy Stephen, an authorized Canadian Immigration practitioner coming out with this Canadian Northwest Territories News. Today is the 24/02/2023 and I am coming to you from the Polinsys studios in Cambridge, Ontario.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has joined the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP), a program launched by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2018. The EMPP is intended to facilitate pathways to permanent residency and access to a pool of skilled talent overseas for refugees and Canadian employers. This program will allow employers in the Northwest Territories to connect with foreign workers and address some of the labor challenges in the region.

Employers can leverage non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to help them navigate the process of hiring refugees from overseas, such as locating employment-related resources and immigration-related services for candidates. Participating NGOs charge employers for their services with the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, and recruiting an employee through the pilot is estimated to cost between $5,000 and $10,000, covering expenses such as visa, relocation, and sometimes temporary accommodation after arrival.
